नई दिल्ली. सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया (Serum Institute of India) ने शुक्रवार को घोषणा की कि उसने संयुक्त राष्ट्र समर्थित कोवैक्स (UN Backed COVAX) वैश्विक टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम के तहत कोविड-19 रोधी टीके कोविशील्ड (Covid-19 Vaccine Covishield) की आपूर्ति का वाणिज्यिक निर्यात फिर से शुरू कर दिया है.
एक आधिकारिक बयान में कहा गया, “कोविड-19 रोधी वैक्सीन कोविशील्ड के पहले बैच को कोवैक्स पहल के तहत निम्न और मध्यम आय वाले देशों में वितरण के लिए आज पुणे स्थित सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट के मैन्युफैक्चरिंग फैसिलिटी से छोड़ दिया गया है. कोवैक्स के अंतर्गत SII के कोविशील्ड की खुराक की आपूर्ति 2022 की पहली तिमाही में काफी हद तक बढ़ने की उम्मीद है.”
सीईओ अदार पूनावाला ने जताई खुशी
SII के सीईओ अदार पूनावाला ने कहा, “हमारे लिए, कोवैक्स में हमारे साझेदारों और निम्न व मध्यम आय वाले देशों के लिए वैक्सीन का फिर से निर्यात शुरू करना हमारे लिए एक बहुत बड़ा क्षण है. दुनिया काफी हद तक कम लागत, उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली फार्मास्यूटिकल्स और टीकों पर निर्भर है जो कि भारत पारंपरिक रूप से निर्यात करता है, इसलिए हमें वैश्विक टीकाकरण प्रयासों का एक बार फिर समर्थन करने में प्रसन्नता हो रही है.”
कोविशील्ड वैक्सीन डोज की संख्या 1.25 अरब के पार
फार्मा कंपनी ने यह भी कहा कि उत्पादित Covisheild Vaccine Dose की कुल संख्या 1.25 अरब को पार कर गई है. एसआईआई में सरकार और नियामक मामलों के निदेशक प्रकाश कुमार सिंह ने हाल ही में केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय को बताया था कि पुणे स्थित फर्म के पास कोविशील्ड की 24,89,15,000 खुराक हैं और स्टॉक हर दिन बढ़ रहा है.

केंद्र ने दी है कोविशील्ड की 50 लाख खुराक के निर्यात की इजाजत
आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने बीते 21 नवंबर को जानकारी दी थी कि केंद्र सरकार ने सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया (SII) को संयुक्त राष्ट्र समर्थित कोवैक्स वैश्विक टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम के तहत कोविड-19 रोधी टीके कोविशील्ड की 50 लाख खुराक नेपाल, ताजिकिस्तान और मोजाम्बिक को निर्यात करने की अनुमति दी है. उन्होंने कहा था कि इन तीन देशों के अलावा एसआईआई कोवैक्स पहल के तहत बांग्लादेश को कोविशील्ड टीके का भी निर्यात करेगा.
इससे पहले सरकार ने अक्टूबर में एसआईआई को ‘वैक्सीन मैत्री’ कार्यक्रम के तहत नेपाल, म्यांमार और बांग्लादेश में प्रत्येक को कोविशील्ड की 10 लाख खुराक निर्यात करने की अनुमति दी थी.
